Let Us Ascend God's Holy Mountain

of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love

This weekend, we enter into the great season of Advent. This is a season of preparation for our minds and hearts. We reorient ourselves towards the anniversary of Jesus' birth and Christ's second coming at the end of time. We are called to be alert and ready, not burdened and distracted by the worries of this world. While it may be tempting to get caught up in the grandeur and excitement of Christmas, our Churches of the Home are called to different sort of season.

Resurrection invites you to journey up God's Holy Mountain. The prophet Isaiah paints the picture of God's dream for us. The dream is that all people will climb the mountain of God to learn his ways and walk in his paths. Peace and justice will flow down the mountain to all the world. We will go to God and God will come to us.

The prophets of the Old Testament, such as Isaiah, declared the hope that God will save us from the sin of the world. We center ourselves this first week of Advent on that hope. God offers us hope for peace, joy, and love in our world, given to us through Jesus. It is HOPE that never disappoints us.

Questions For Reflection:

  1. How are you preparing for Christmas?

  2. Is the mountain of the Lord higher than every other mountain for you? Do you stream toward it with your whole being?

  3. What will you do to ensure that you will spend Advent focused on the Lord during this time of busyness?

Visit Resurrection's Advent page to find resources to help your Church of the Home grow this Advent. New resources will be added weekly.
