First Eucharist is a Sacrament of Initiation
(along with Baptism and Confirmation)
that completes an individual's membership
into the Catholic Community.

Commonly called Communion, the Sacrament of Eucharist celebrates the real presence of Christ in the bread, wine, and gathered community.

Regular participation in Eucharist/Communion is encouraged for all Catholics from age 7 years and older. First Communion typically occurs during a child's second-grade year.
