“At His Ascension our Lord entered Heaven,

and He keeps the door open for humanity to enter.”

Oswald Chambers

This weekend, we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord, marking Jesus Christ's ascent into heaven 40 days after his resurrection. It reminds Churches of the Home of Jesus' promise to send the Holy Spirit and assures eternal life, marking the end of his earthly ministry and the start of his heavenly reign. Reflect on this event by reading the Gospels of Mark, Luke, and Acts, which detail his final instructions and ascension.

Incorporating the Ascension into daily life can inspire hope and comfort, reminding us to live our faith and share Christ's love. It encourages Churches of the Home to emulate Jesus' teachings and maintain a faith-rooted home environment.

Living in light of the Ascension involves embracing Christ's victory over death and his presence through the Holy Spirit, fostering hope and trust in God's promise. By acknowledging our spiritual connection to God, we can embrace a new life in a new creation.

The Ascension assures us of resurrection and eternal life, inspiring faith and anticipation of God's redemption plan. As Jesus mediates in heaven, we can emulate him by praying for others and seeking God's will, striving for holiness, and engaging in service and compassion. Cultivating a deeper connection with the Holy Spirit through prayer, scripture, and fellowship enables us to live fruitful lives reflecting Christ's victory and presence.

Jesus instructs his disciples to preach the Gospel worldwide. Choose a place to visit and learn about it. Additionally, try learning new phrases in a different language, as Jesus says believers will speak new languages.

Join us for Mass this weekend in person at 4:00 on Saturday, 8:30 or 10:30 on Sunday, on www.gbres.org/live, our YouTube channel, and our Facebook page.

READINGS FOR THIS WEEKEND’S MASSES

VIRTUALLY SUNDAY REFLECTION

Do we live a life that embodies the teachings of Christ? We are called to avoid shortcuts in our faith and to actively engage in social justice, advocating for the poor and marginalized, and to live out the values that Jesus taught. We must live a life that emphasizes compassion for the marginalized, just like Jesus did. Join Sr. Marla as she reflects on this weekend's scripture readings.
