Church of the Home for Saturday, July 5

We are delighted to welcome Fr. Bob Kollath into our Resurrection Parish Family as our new pastor! Fr. Bob brings with him a wealth of experience and a unique blend of interests. His passion for ministry is matched by his love for adventure, as evidenced by his impressive collection of four motorcycles. Whether he's riding through the countryside or leading us in worship, Fr. Bob's dynamic spirit is sure to inspire and energize our parish family.

We look forward to the warmth and compassion he will bring to our parish, both in his pastoral duties and in the everyday moments that make our community special. Welcome, Fr. Bob!

Avoiding the “Spiritual Summer Slide”

As we embrace the warmth and leisure of summer, it's important to be mindful of the "Spiritual Summer Slide" during the Ordinary Time of the Church Year. Just as students can experience a learning loss over the summer break, our spiritual lives can also face a similar drift if we become too relaxed in our faith practices.

This season, with its longer days and relaxed routines, offers a unique opportunity to deepen our relationship with God. By staying engaged in our spiritual disciplines, participating in worship, and finding moments of reflection amidst our summer activities, we can ensure that our faith remains vibrant and growing, even during the most laid-back days of the year.

Ideas for Making Ordinary Time Special
  1. Focus on Christ’s life

With fewer distractions from decorations, gifts, and holiday preparations, your family can find more time to explore the Scriptures together. Ordinary Time is an opportunity for growth in understanding and knowing Jesus.

As the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops states, “The Sundays and weeks of Ordinary Time… take us through the life of Christ. This is the time of conversion. This is living the life of Christ.”

It’s a period for deepening our faith, allowing the mystery of Christ to permeate our lives.

  2. Learn about the lives of the saints

Saints exemplify how to live a life that reflects a relationship with Jesus, making Ordinary Time perfect for starting a family tradition of reading their stories. Explore stories about the saints and check out movies about saints for inspiration.

  3. Try new family prayers and devotions

Ordinary Time is perfect for refreshing your family prayer routine and for praying together in new ways:

    • Monthly devotions

    • Chaplet of Divine Mercy

    • Meditative prayer

    • Consecration to Mary
