Church of the Home for Saturday, December 2

Updated: Dec 9, 2023

Advent Begins with Hope

The Advent season is here. This is the time for us to reflect on the grace of God manifested in the coming of Jesus Christ. We take this opportunity to quietly prepare our hearts for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus Christ and the return of Christ at the Second Coming.

Throughout Advent, look for the candles to increase and the stars to shine brighter as a reminder of the increasing light of Christ coming into the world. Also, open yourself and your Church of the Home to hope, peace, joy, and love that comes from Christ. This first week prepares us to be people of hope and believe that darkness will not prevail, but the light of the world will overcome it.

As a Church of the Home, enter into Advent with hopeful hearts and awaken to the moments of grace around you.

  • Actively seek grace in the Sacraments, especially with Holy Eucharist and Reconciliation

  • Pray an Advent daily devotional

  • Keep a list of the moments of grace experienced individually or as a Church of the Home.

  • Reflect and discuss as a Church of the Home:

    • Think about a situation in your life that has seemed hopeless. In what ways did you make your way through it?

    • When did you experience hope in 2023?

    • What do you hope for?

    • In what ways can you share the gift of hope in 2024? How can you embody hope for those who have been marginalized within your friends and family? Within your church or social groups? Within the world?

Join us for Mass this weekend in person
