Birthday in Bethlehem

On Saturday, December 11, 2010 Resurrection’s 3rd & 4th graders performed “Birthday in Bethlehem.” The program consisted of acting out the nativity and singing carols, followed by a birthday party celebration (cupcakes and family art project) for the entire family. It was a memorable event for all!

A Prayer for Families
We praise You, O God, for sending your own incarnate Son,
to become part of a family, so that, as he lived family life,
he would experience its worries and its joys.

We ask You, God, to protect and watch over our family,
so that we may have the strength of Your grace
and we may enjoy prosperity in all we do,
possess the priceless gift of Your peace,
and, as the Church alive in the home,
share our faith in this world to give You glory.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

A Prayer for a Divorced or Separated Person
Gracious God,  I belong to you.
I place myself anew in Your hands
and acknowledge You as master and Lord of my life.
Grant me the gift of a forgiving heart
and cleanse me of any anger, hostility or revenge.
Heal my hurts and teach me to rely on Your love.
Grant me wisdom of heart and strengthen me by Your grace
to move on in faith, in trust and in love.
Thank You , Lord for Your love in my life.

Elizabeth Ministry
Elizabeth Ministry in not a single ministry, but rather a cluster of ministries that work to offer support, guidance, and encouragement of women through their childbearing years.

Part of the mission of Elizabeth Ministry is to help mothers see the sacred moments in the ordinary and everyday events of motherhood.   To this end, we also want to strengthen and build our relationships here at Resurrection so that we mothers can continue to be encouraged and supported well after the baby is born.  If you have other children, know that Elizabeth Ministry is not simply for first time mothers!  Indeed, as you know, mentoring and friendships with other mothers is vital to how you parent as well!  Creating a stronger community within Resurrection Parish will help not only those who are new to the parenting game, but will give us all an outlet and opportunity to connect with other women who share our Catholic faith.  We as mothers or mothers-to-be naturally look at other women who are in similar stages of life.  Elizabeth Ministry creates yet another opportunity to foster those faith filled relationships that will encourage us in our walk of life.

From the Generations of Faith Newsletter by Leif Kerwald:
When families deliberately discuss issues of faith, belief, spirituality, and worship, it shows children and teens that faith is a priority, and it makes a real difference in the ways they live their lives. Encourage parents and grandparents to share their stories and faith journeys, as these can be a powerful influence on the faith of young people.
Reassure parents and grandparents that they don’t need to have an answer for every question that arises. But let them know that young people are genuinely interested in knowing what their parents’ beliefs and convictions are. They want the adults in their lives to take a stand.
Here are a few suggestions for families to engage in faith conversation with each other. Add your own suggestions to the list, or tailor it to your topic at hand. Pass these along to your community in whatever creative way you can imagine.

Quote of the Day
No matter what we are going through, no matter how long the waiting for answers, of one thing we may be sure.  God is faithful.  God keeps His promises.  What he starts, He finishes…including His perfect work in us.
