Blessing of the Pets, October 7th!

Feast of St. Francis is October 4th

Blessing of the Pets, October 7!

In the Memorial Garden at Resurrection Parish (weather permitting), all animal lovers, family & friends, all ages are welcome to attend.

All pet owners are invited to participate in a traditional Blessing of the Pets outdoor prayer service on Sunday morning, October 7, 2018, at approximately 9:45 a.m., (following the 8:30 a.m. mass – preceding the 10:30 a.m. mass)

All animals are welcome, but should be appropriately leashed, caged, or kenneled so as to not intimidate, terrify, fight with, or eat others present for the blessing. :) And please-no pets in church!

This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is October 4th, in honor of his great love for all of God’s creatures. Francis wrote The Canticle of the Creatures, an ode to God’s living things.

“All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brothers and sister creatures.”
