Monday Morning Poetry, August 28

What is this inner disposition called faith,

this stance toward life and meaning?

Some say it is like a tide,

faith ebbs and flows,

lives a life of alternations.

Others maintain that faith is a rock,

firm and reliable,

no matter the storms or tempests of life.

I say that faith is like the sun, a gift,

that shines everywhere on everyone

and yet, because of intense brightness, also blinds.

In the end, faith is a gracious mystery

offered to all, accepted by some.
