Monday Morning Poetry, May 22

 Though but six years on this planet,

though a member of a caring family,

though the youngest of four siblings,

she told her mother in a loud voice:

“You are the meanest mother in the whole world.”

The next day her dad got it:

“You are the meanest dad in the whole wide world.”

Oh, the trials and tribulations of parenting;

oh, the “slings and arrows” from one’s own offspring.

After the double volley,

the meanest mom and dad in the whole world

had an evening drink, chat and a good long laugh.

They were beginning to realize that they had

the meanest little child in the whole wide world.
