In Praise of Oil

My mower praises you,

my car praises you,

my salad praises you,

my popcorn praises you.

You are everywhere,

in machines and kitchens,

in churches and hospitals,

in the earth and the deep blue sea.

Are you divine?

A god of some sort?

Let me add thanksgiving to praise;

let me ask forgiveness for taking you for granted.
