Unseen Sorrows

Be it a wedding reception,

an anniversary gathering,

a liturgical celebration,

all appears well – fancy garb,

smiling faces, light conversation.

But beneath all appearances,

in the inner recesses of the soul and heart,

so much anguish.

A relationship falling apart,

shame and guilt over past sins,

economic woes and psychological afflictions.

Unseen sorrows just below the surface.
