Sacrificial Giving

Sacrificial Giving is also known as ‘tithing’ and is known to some as ‘church dues’. Resurrection does not require that you pay to be a member of our parish family. However, the concept of tithing is biblical and encouraged. This financial response to Christ should be “of the essence” of our faith, not simply the leftovers. We invite you to become an active part of our sacrificial giving program. Review your personal and family financial situation. After prayer and discussion, we encourage you to commit to a percentage of your income to give to charity and in particular, Resurrection Parish.

Biblical tithing is 10% of your income. The church encourages Catholics to achieve this level of support by contributing 5% to the church and 5% to other charities. Here is a chart to help in your prayerful decision. Consider setting goals and working your way up.

 “In generous spirit pay homage to the LORD, be not sparing of freewill gifts. With each contribution show a cheerful countenance, and pay your tithes in a spirit of joy. Give to the Most High as he has given to you, generously, according to your means.” – Sirach 35:7-9

Special Collections are additional opportunities at some of our Masses to contribute of your financial gifts. These collections range from diocesan causes to world mission needs. Resurrection believes strongly that we should give out of our first fruits and as a parish chose to make our special collections the first collection at a Mass while parish needs become the second collection. We encourage you to give generously to the causes God places on your heart.

 Electronic Funds Transfer is an alternative payment method. Instead of using the weekly envelopes, an automatic electronic funds transfer of a pre-determined amount can be made each month. BONUS! It occurs automatically, you specify the amount, it is in effect until you change it, and no fee will charged by Resurrection (There may be a charge, as with any other check, per your agreement with your bank).
